Personal business talk maybe? Where you can chat with your clients that are far away. right? Do business deals, or a bit of arguments of agreements.

I don't think that you can earn any money in Yahoo chatting as the purpose of Yahoo chatting is to chat, but not to earn money.

I believe money is earned via yahoo chat rooms in the form of scripts that control "robot profiles" that are made to advertise their business owners products. The owner then receives income when a yahoo chatter purchases any product from the fake robot profile sales pitch.

Only problem is this Timmy: Must of the inhabitants in any given room are really droids that have scripts controlling their behavior. I'd be willing to chat in yahoo rooms if there were actually warm blooded people there

I was just thinking about how having a CAPTCHA doesn't help. If there is a captcha, the droid owners simply log in their droid and then after they have entered the captcha, they leave a script controlling their droid the rest of the time. When people arrive to chat they get stuck talking to droid that is simply a script and not even a live human person.

I guess you could say the same thing about the telephone then? Unless there is a specific restriction on a service such as this yes it can be used to earn money. As said by another poster, it can be used to speak with clients who are some distance away, and I operate internationally and I have occasionally done so.
As all business involves talking, Yahoo chat can play a role because it is not restricted to social chatting.

yes that was the intention of Yahoo chat. To be a community for people to converse with one another and then came the marketers that took advantage of this and drove everyone out with droids that run scripts and advertise a message across the chat room at fixed intervals. Yahoo never managed to put anyone in the chat rooms to police them so they fell out of flavor soon enough.
