Focus more on on-page optimization as what i observed yahoo and bing do give much value on these factors. If you optimize well you page with your targeted keywords, then you can rank on these search engines. Though you also need to get more quality backlinks to get better results.

Having tons of backlink will not guarantee any good ranking on serp (Google,Yahoo) what really matters is the quality of backlink's. Right optimization will be more positive to have a good ranking result in both SE's. We cannot deny that Google and Yahoo are totally different SE's but they both recognize normal way of optimization rather than gray or black hat technique of optimization.

Traditionally Bing has been mostly about on-page optimzation and sheer volume of links to the page. I'm stil seeing that currently.

Also, keep in mind that Yahoo will soon be using Bing's search engine to power their results.

I do think that backlinks influence Yahoo! and Bing ranking, but it's not that on-page and content do not matter, you have to optimize the on-page factors as well.

1. increase the backlinks, and make anchor tag on keyword.
2. onpage should be search engine rules like do not follow black hat seo.
3. avoid gray hat and black hat seo technique.

Well the best way to rank the keyword is to get more and more quality back links.
These is much better approach to gt the site there high on the net.

I have noticed that for Yahoo and Bing it really matters what your anchor text is in your back link... Also, a ton of links never hurts...

I think that once you get a moderate amount of back links that you are better to spend your time creating good content. If you have good content other people will create quality links to you.
