Try to get only quality and relevant links no matter it's one way, reciprocal or three way. Not from spam sites or bad neighbourhood. It's the key to get high ranking on any search engine.

    Default Top Search Engines

There are really only 3 search engines most people should focus on using as they generate 90% of all the search engine traffic in the US. They are in order of importance as follows:

    1. Google (with AOL) 51%
    2. Yahoo 23%
    3. MSN 17%
    4. ask.com 6%
The rest are too small to worry about unless you are doing this full time.

Yahoo takes $299 for submit any website to the directory, after paying such an big amount this is not sure that whether your site will exist in Yahoo or not, also the money is not refundable. So submit press release to get rank well in Yahoo.

Yahoo actually now powered by Bing. The old system of yahoo are used only for foreign countries. Since AOL is powered by google, Bing and Google are the only quality web searching, no matter what the input query in the portal site.
