    Default Quick Site Review

I just did a quick review of the website. Looks clean. I would recommend however that you not charge until you either have a strong number of websites already in the directory, or ranked pages within the directory.

I have found that with the number of Diectories being listed on the internet almost on a daily basis, I would make sure that my clients only pay money for established directories. If it is a new directory, they usually offer a reciprical linking option and until a directory is established, I wouldn't pay money to be included.

    Just my two cents.

I agree. There was a time when I deferred some of my fees to include my clients in major, established real estate directories. I even paid for the premium listing so that their info and banner was at the top of the directory pages. They brought in very little traffic and no leads.

The SEO link pop value was also minimal. The sites did not lose any SERP's when the listings expired.

In fact, I think that directories overall are losing their importance in SEO. Popular directories that are spidered frequently are a good way to get a new site spidered quickly, but they don't bring in any buyer client traffic.

So, how can you make a real estate directory worth a paid listing? You need to optimize the site for each state and town and get in in the top 15 SERP's so that it will drive traffic to a web site. Either that, or you may still find a few folks that would pay to be listed on a PR7 or PR8 site.

Directories are a tough way to make money nowadays.

I think its still good - stay away from the cliche directories, make it useful and informative - it will pay off big time.

I have to agree with Max.

His directory rocks! Though it is true that many are junk and the SEo value is diminishing... Max's drives a lot of traffic since his is placed so well in google for relevant real estate search terms.

Also, I have a link in my sig to his forum... check it out sometime!

Thanks Matt, I'm doing well enough so far which is my first year of real promotion and improvement of the directory. The forum is not as good as this one because I don't have enough time to start interesting topics and share more info - too much work for one person I hope one day it will be all live and very active
