Search Engines
Google currently has me on page three. Obviously I want to move up to the first page. I figured there would be a couple SEO pros on here that could tell me what I need to do.

write good content that reflects what your keywords/keyword phrases are, get some good link exchanges, make sure your keyword density is somewhere between 4-7% (for google...closer to 7)

You can do all that crap everyone is talking about, or you can just do amazing business, and real humans will willingly go to your website. You dont have to trick the little robots into thinking you are important.

According to my point of view you should do site detail analysis first. It includes on page optimizaion (like proper site navigation, file name is correct(should use hyphen istead of space), bold, header tags, italic tags, alt tags, meta tags ) etc. Note: the meta tags should be according to the site contents. Then go for keywords analysis (remeber always use those keywords which have lowest competition). Also do competitor analysis.
Aftre doing the site analysis then go for link exchange, directory submission, foums, blog, rss etc.
hope it would be helpful... or you can contact one of the seo expertLast edited by Chief Tutor; 04-07-2008 at 10:27 AM. Reason: Please put your email in your profile

If you are targeting a very competitive search term, hire an SEO company, or focus on SEO full time. Because it requires a lot of work like building additional sites, writing daily articles, submission tasks, link building campaigns etc etc...
When you target a competitve search terms, your competitor will be a professional SEO team with knowledge and expertiese....
If your search term is not that competitive you can start to learn about SEO and apply those tasks to your website..
Thanks

It's not as easy as some might have you thinking
There are TONS of different peices that go into a good SEO campaign. You can get a lot of useful resource online, but your best bet is to atleast consult with a real SEO expert. All you're going to get here are quick pointers, but SEO can be a very tedious job. You have to analyze a site, run it through various tests (keyword density, structure, linking etc) before you can determine the best way to attack this.
The main 3 pointers I can give you that will help the most are:
- Make sure you have PLENTY of REAL content on your web site. Google in particular likes LOTS of pages with LOTS of good content. Whoever said "Content is King" was not kidding. It's #1 with Google anyway.
- Make sure your site is SEO friendly. Many agents have developers that don't know how to use mod_rewrite or how to make pages SEO friendly so they use normal query strings for structure which isn't as good. I like to create only pages that look like real HTML pages to the search engines. My pages normally don't have URLs like (?id=131&something=somethingElse).
- LINK POPULARITY!!! Don't listen to anyone that tells you different! Building up links from 'related' industry sites will help tremendously. Some webmasters are under the impression that building links is bad, but they probably do it the wrong way. There is a right way and a wrong way so make sure whomever you're thinking about dealing with can 'show' you rankings they've accomplished as well as link-backs used.
Don't believe anyone that claims they can get you top rankings for that $199 special. The work involved alone would COST any legit SEO company more than triple that in man hours so don't believe the hype
