    Default Real Estate website creation

    Hi All,

I am have been assigned to build a web site for a real estate agency and was wondering if someone can propose a good cms to do it with.

I would like one that is real estate specific. I know joomla and things but i want something that is as close as it gets to real estate.

Anyine happened to be in my shoes in the past?

    Joomla is good one.

You can use wordpress for an immediate start while you do the research and build a good one.

with word press you can be done in couple of hours.

Feel free to add the site to my signature directories.

    Thanks

    Default Wordpress is good

    I strongly recommed wordpress.
You can set it up easily.
Also remember that seo (search engine optimization) is the key in the game for websites.
remember to mod_rewrite your content so instead of hard to read urls
you get clean and humand readable content
    so instead of content=property&cat=32&id=24
    you get content/property/house_in_panama_city for example
if you need further assitance let me know

    Default other ones

    Also php nuke and mambo.

I have never completed a site in cms's as I prefer good old file editing one by one, but I have friends that have used these two.

    Give it a go.

There are several good commercial components to go with a Joomla/Mambo set up.

Ezrealty is one that I am using, you can find it by searching the joomla.org extensions area.

if you want the site to be successful, make it basic and vast. I would just use PHP
For Sale By Owner Flat Fee MLS Listings and Services
St. Louis Limousine Rental Give your clients a night of Luxury
    St. Louis Investment Realtor

    Default open realty

I made one using open-realty .. script is fine if its a single agents listing.

the script is free and if your hosting provides fantastico.. installation is just a click away..

you should probably try it once..
For Free Real estate directory, absolutely free listing go to http://www.143realty.com

Do you have a link to the site you made with open-realty. And that goes for anyone else that might have done the same.
Just jumping in with both feet. (well maybe all 4)

www.horsehomes4sale.com add a free listing for any horse related property and get seen on equestrian websites all over the country.

Open realty isn't a bad base (and it's free) though I found it a bit too basic for my needs. In the end I ended up with Joomla and the Hot Property component.

Was that a commercial component? Did you find it had enough options for you or did you have to add some others.?
