Would a wordpress blog not work for you? I thing they are pretty easy to use. There are so many things that you can do with it. I have a website and a blog. The blog is integrated right into the site and the reader cannot tell the difference. The site was developed by a professional but i did the blog myself.

I agree wordpress would work ok in most instances for your website. You can pick out a nice wordpress theme at themeforest.net. To configure the themes sometimes require a bit of technical knowledge but this is not hard to learn. If you want something easier you might look into weeble.com.
