Open Realty goes closed source
This morning I received an email regarding Transparent Tech making open realty a closed source application. I had anticipated this move and in Oct-Nov 2009 I discussed the possibility, with other developers, of reviving the last GPL version, OR v 1.5. In anticipation I registered gplrealty.org, gplrealty.com and gplrealty.info but positive feedback was lacking at the same time that my teaching load doubled so it was put on a back burner. Now is the time to move GPL Realty to the forefront.
I am inviting developers and other interested parties to join with me and create an open source listing management application and to extend this invitation to anyone you know who has contributed to the now "closed realty" application. GPL Realty like the original will remain modular for seamless integration with Wordpress, Joomla, and just about any other CMS as well as a stand-alone-version. It will have all the bells and whistles of a high end listings management application.
It is not my intention to control GPL Realty or even be head developer rather my intention is to help form and to be part of a team that revives the gpl’d open realty and forks it to GPL Realty to avoid any confusion with or infringement on Open-Realty which is a registered trademark of Transparent Technologies, Inc.
