Host at multiple locations..
Hi I'm getting tired of bluehost.com failing all the time. second time in two weeks that they are down more than an hour. It really upsets me when I can't get to my site. Does anyone know of a way to have two hosting service so that if one goes down, traffic gets sent to another server hosted elsewhere?
Don't use bluehost.com if you are looking for a server solution that'll stay up. I just signed up 3 weeks ago and it's been down twice for over an hour. I asked the rep is this normal and he goes quiet.. then i ask him what's the uptime ratio..and he sais 98 to 99%. That''s not acceptable for a hosting service.. PUKE!
Very upset as my site is down while i'm typing this message..
Help recommend a better host if you know of one. With minimal downtime.. at most half an hour a year..

There are many hosts that should not have such outages.
I have been very happy with http://nethosters.com/ for sometime now. Their uptime is great (I can't remember the last time it was down) and there customer service is A+. I have been a customer for years now and I have no complains.
Also, if you have a mission critical site you could consider using something like Amazon EC2 for a failover machine. You can start up machines and reroute the traffic in a matter of minutes. Although, this option does not make sense unless you have a proper IT department that can setup everything for you.Compete Realty Team

I recommend:
mediatemple.net
hostnine.com
hostgator.com
Mediatemple is great, although they are about $17 a month

customer service is hard to get. most will make you run around and then blame it on your script. You need to be able to help yourself and read up on some of the problems before you submit to them so that they know you know what you're talking about and won't give you the run around.
I've had experience with a lot of hosts and if you're a newbie to all this it'll be painful dealing with them. Some hosts like godaddy will try to upsell you on customer service plans or other cr*p that you don't need.Interesting Resources
