Default are sales letter pages overrated?

There are so many sales letter pages out there that I am starting believe that the tactic has become over used and less effective. What other ways are you guys and gal using to get your info across to visitors?

    Hi,

I do not agree that the sales letter pages are overrated. If you write it considering your niche or market with considering USP then it would definitely lead to a sales.

I also use high quality articles to bring visitors attention to our website / service.

What're thoughts on the fact that everyone is using them? At a certain point there really is a risk of over saturation and reduced effectiveness. What tweaks do you think should be done or have you seen to make that risk less likely?

Up to certain extent I think it is overrated. Many people use it and so people see it all the time which makes it less effective but if you try to point out your Unique Selling Point then it would work.

I have to confess my ignorance here. What exactly are you referring to when you talk about sales letter? I have hundreds of pages and article all over the internet but never heard any of them referred to as a "sales letter."

Sales letter pages are those long website pages that describe in detail what the sellers product is and why you want to buy it. They include testimonials, audio, photos and everything that the seller thinks may be of interest to the reader. They work to a certain extent and thousands of online marketers swear by them. To see an example click here http://www.tbdinvesting.com/products...ads/TCPLG.html(yes, it's one of mine).

The issue I see is that too many have jumped on to this trend without putting enough thought into their content. Eventually I can see the net becoming over-saturated with sales letter pages which will drastically reduce their effectiveness.

Do you track the traffic to your pages? That might help figure out how it's going.

I would imagine that if the SSL certificate applies to your main domain, it will work with your sub-domains too - or am I missing something?

I just get annoyed when I'm looking for something and I see a sales page, but with the large number of them they must work, or people wouldn't use them...or people use them for their simplicity and they don't know how to make a better website.
