The design should be relevant to your site and offers a user-friendly environment.

I think the most important for the web design of the real estate site is the attractiveness of the site and it's comfort. A user shuld find everything easily and without any problems. The colours should be pleasant and catching.

Can I change my answer?
It totally depends on what type of real estate site you have. If it's just listings and that is all you care about.. listings. Then you don't really need to worry about social media and bookmarking because no one is going to care about a listing, except people who are looking for houses and they aren't going to talk abotu your listing on their blog, facebook, twitter, etc.
If its listings + more site then you have a whole different set of design needs.
The more I get into this stuff the more tougher I find it is to give a straight answer
