Your Web Site, Your Image

Getting to the top of the search engine rankings does not guarantee buyer client leads or home sales. In fact, a poor web site at the top of the search engine rankings may even harm your image.

When I search the web for potential link partners I see a lot of web sites - thousands and thousands of web sites. And for the life of me I don't know what some people are thinking when they publish their web site. When I see a web site with a cluttered home page that has too many topics and too many pictures it has an immediate negative impact on how I feel about that agent or business. Maybe it's just me, but I think many other web surfers feel that way.

I don't want to have to wade through dozens of disjointed paragraphs, scattered nav menus, and tons of tiny links to find what I am looking for. I don't want to have to squint my eyes to try and read the text and links. I don't want to be bombarded with 15 animated GIFs and flashing text.

Your web site is a your handshake with a potential buyer client. It makes an immediate statement about you and your services. A cluttered web site is like a sweaty, weak handshake - something people would like to avoid.

Simplify your site, keep the focus on the client, and give them a clear and simple navigation structure to topics of interest.

Not only use the kiss method, but let people know how to get in touch with you including your email address where it is easy to find. This is an electronic mediam, Thats how people do business now days, get used to it.

You got to remember, a lot of new agents out there haven't yet build up enough cash to afford a properly designed page so many are using cheap templates which often hurts them in the search engine rankings as many of the template sites have similar content and designs.

I have a friend who has been in the business for almost six years now and he has a template site and my site is already getting more daily hits than his is and my site since I am new has only been online for about a month now. How do I know what his site is averaging per day, because his template site had meta tags that were set up and he asked that I come in and help him fix them. The company who set the site up had Greenville, CA in his meta tags (CA being of course California) where he needed help changing them to Greenville, NC which is where his office is located. The company that set up his template of course is in CA.

Also, with me, it's been so long since I have done website design, I have no graphics or anything. I am just trying to keep my site as simple and easy to navigate as possible. I can do simple HTML, but java script, flash design and stuff like creating logos and pretty grahics, forget it. I have no idea what I am doing in those sections of web design so, on my site you have none!

Right now I am focusing on trying to just drive traffic to my site and of course exchange links and get my name out there. Simple, ugly but hopefully it's be much informative once I get done with it!
