I think DMOZ is affiliated with Google and it needs time to get listed on the category. I have never seen a double entry for a particular site as I go through various categories many times in search of new sites for the niche .
dmoz seems inconsistant and weird to me.
I've got one of my sites listed twice there.
The other site is listed but they never changed my title after many times i tried to edit it.
Since it's a human edited directory and all entries are done by people, i think it's really important to have complete contact information on your site before it gets accepted.
They reject sites that have no physical address and telephone number.
If you submited once, and did not get listed; just move on and don't waste any more time on dmoz.

Our site will be definitely indexed if follow the rules and regulations of dmoz ..
Dmoz is the great directory system. Submittiing a website in a Dmoz is an important part for ranking the website well in Google.
Many websites and some directories use Open Directory listings so you may pick up some additional links ... and the price is right (Free).
in previous years, getting on dmoz was very, very valuable. However, this importance has declined in google's opinion, slightly. if you don't get on there, spend more time seeking other, highly ranking directories.

I have given up on DMOZ. I tried 3 to 4 different times. I agree with bonhamsurf, it does not hold the weight it used to. I am on page 1 of google for Orlando short sale with no back links and no DMOZ.
I never really cared about DMOZ at all. Promise, no offense but I focus all of my energies at Google, ranking well in google means ranking good too in DMOZ.
Simpy put the day a competitor site I used to track daily was indexed into DMOZ it ranked 2nd on page 1 for a keyword and previously was found on page 4.
It is very relevant.
I have been trying to get accepted for 2 years. Nobody has touched the section since I first looked at it. I just don't think they have enough editors.
