Default 6 Tips to Get Your Site to the Top of Search Engines

    1. Start writing articles. Even if you hate to write, these really are a must if you are going to improve your rankings. Writing even just a few articles and posting them in some article directories with your URL at the bottom as a part of a bio box will do wonders for your website.
    2. Take a close look at your meta tags. This includes your title and head tags. If you need help figuring out what to include take a look at the meta tags for some other websites which have higher rankings for your desired keywords.
    3. Take a close look at how the keywords in your meta tags stack up against the keywords inside your site. This is very important. Your meta tag keywords need to also be present in the content of your site. It is also important to create links within your site using your keywords. Putting some of your keywords in bold can also help.
    4. Make sure your site has real content. This includes articles, links to other sites, links to other pages within your site and real useful information, not just ads or promotional material.
    5. Start a blog. You can either create a traditional one using a program such as blogger or wordpress or create a lens or many lenses at squidoo.com. The search engines love these and as long as you make sure to include a link to your site on these, your SEO will improve. You also need to make sure that you keep these updated on a regular basis.
    6. Be patient. I know it's easy to get impatient, but attaining a high ranking website takes time and no amount of money or work will make the process any quicker.

    Great info Anna!

The only thing I'd add is to set up a PPC campaign as step #1. That will enable you to determine WHICH terms actually get traffic and convert into leads.

Nothing would be worse than to spend weeks/months optimizing for a search term that doesn't get any traffic, or worse - does get traffic, but doesn't convert into a decent amount of leads.

This tips were really helpful to me and I hope this will be helpful even to thers also. As, I think instead of doing SEO on out own like writing aritlces, looking for keywords, looking for meta tags etc. It's beeter to have an SEO expert doen all this work, we could moniter the work.

    Default Great info..But

Please Please Please...do some keyword research first. An earlier poster mentioned running PPC first. I am not sure I would agree, especially for folks on a budget. Also, visitors general perceive organic results as being less biased.

HOWEVER, the ppc post was important because by going into Google Adwords to set up PPC you will find a great FREE keyword research tool. Overture is Yahoo's version.

I paid the subcription for wordtracker for my telfair plantation site and the information I got was fantastic..for example the term gated communities had about 10 times the traffic as gated community with 1/5 of the competition.

Before you spent time optimizing your site and writing articles..find out WHAT people are really searching by AND how much competion there is .

good tips anna. its not really easy to boost the page rank especially if the site is new. you have to take a lot of extra effort for that. link building is a big help to rank high on search engine.
