    Default DMOZ Benefit?

What type of BUMP can you expect after being picked up by DMOZ? I am just getting going with my site and was wondering....

I wouldn't expect a great deal from it. It's only one link. Plus right now, google's toolbar is ranking every page as a 0. (Did DMOZ get blacklisted by google?)

With all of the talk about DMOZ, I would think that once you are picked up by them, there would be a recognizable benefit.

I don't know the importance as I have never been listed in the DMOZ directory. I tried and tried but never got any success so I just gave up and stopped trying, I am probably in there now!

    No, still not there !

Links from DMOZ are good because it's considered an authority site. At one time, many other search engines used DMOZ results for their search queries... not sure how many do that now. And, yes, it can be a challenge to get listed in DMOZ, but in my opinion, well worth it. Just make sure you have a high quality site and you're submitting to a relevant category.

Google still uses DMOZ as a directory. If you go to Google.com, and click on the Google directory, you'll be taken to DMOZ.

As far as I'm concerned, it's just one more step toward a successful site. Is it necessary? I don't know. Ask Google.

I do know that, once my sites started showing up in DMOZ, my Google rankings improved dramatically.

Getting onto DMOZ should definitely boost your rankings. That is because the DMOZ is not only one of the most well-known human-managed web directories, but it is also in the big search engine's 'good graces' in that they provide relevant websites and do a great job in keep the spam and trash sites out.

I have heard several people say DMOZ was very helpful in their search engine placement. However, getting listed in DMOZ is another story. I have a few other websites (non real estate related). I submitted them to DMOZ over a year ago and have yet to hear anything or see them listed. Am I the only one experiencing this ?

Its almost impossible to get listed by dmoz. I have been trying for 3 years with no success. besides , i heard so many stories about corrupt editors being bribed for links.
