    I have heard that G is penalizing now, same as they are no longer giving weight to recip links??

    I don't think it's being penalized, I'm not sure how much weight they give because they will pretty much link to anyone who requests it. But I do think Google uses DMOZ to help know what your web site content is about, I beleieve the same is true for meta keywords, so you should do it.

    Maybe DMOZ links count towards the ranking of a site in Google.
    But in my opinion you should just think of DMOZ as a quality directory listing quality sites and having a high PR...don't expect anything more than that. Else you might be disappointed

    I show that DMOZ has a page rank of 8 right now. I submitted my site seven months ago and I'm still not in either.

    It really takes several months to be listed in Dmoz. But it's good to have one way links from this directory.
