Is this website good for SEO ranking?
I understand that building your link popularity will higher your ranking for search engines. But if you have your links on websites like this one, in the threads, will it higher your ranking?

It won't hurt your rankings, it's not an exchange, it's a oneway link.
Oneway links are what you should be looking for, but you need to spend them round a bit. Go on other forums, forums of interest as well as real estate as it is something that you can contibute to with knowledge. Also start a blog, post on your blog leaving your signature, submit links to directories, build free sites linking to your site (long and hard process as you need to get those sites noticed !). Write and submit articles with your signature.
The harder the oneway link is to get the better the value...

drive rankings
I think all one way links are good and the forum signature qualifies. Many feel that signature links do not carry as much value as some other forms of links. It would be better if you used your keyword and linked it to the site rather than just your url.

I agree Wayne what you said about signature links not carrying much value but it's a start.
The harder it is to get a one way link that better value it holds, forum links are easy to get and build up but the hard ones take a long time to find and hold.

from what i understand that some forums are now adding a nofollow tag and your text links are not seen. It is not on all forums but on some takes a long time to find the one with a nofollow. I have plenty of links comming from forums.

good for ranking
I have seen some pretty good evidence that sig links do carry weight although just less that some other forms of text links. I like sig links because I follow them to find out more if I think the writer has some interesting ideas.

People over on webmasterworld.com seem to agree that, while forum sig line links have value, they diminish in value as the number of posts increases.
There's one forum where I have over 4,000 posts. I sincerely doubt that my sig line in 4,000 posts is the equivalent of 4,000 individual links to my site.
The same goes for Wiki's, directories that allow for multiple submissions, etc.
