HHI, thank you for the link. It is a fascinating article. In reading it though, I was struck by the emphasis on "expert" and "authoritative." My theory is much simpler and one in which you do not need expert and authoritative sites as a precondition to arrive at relevance, instead you need common usage. For example, a word that is not in the dictionary will be added to the dictionary when common usage reaches critical mass. Likewise when the billions of associations and correlations to key words and key word phases reach critical mass they are ranked and entered into the google dictionary for reference. This is spectulation only.

Frobn you may be correct it could just be a flute. My own personal guess is that the site is authoratative within the online drug order business and has several thousand backlinks. The only content on this site was real estate agent links with less than a 100 word blurb about the page. IMHO google has always been about BLs where msn and yahoo look at density and relevance more so than google.
The seo of real estate sites has become as bad as the porn industry. Google is always tweaking its algo to keep seo's off balance. With real estate being a big money word for google adwords they dont want to allow new and good real estate sites to place. Hence they would lose a lot of money from adwords.IMHOLooking For A Real Estate Specialists in Las Vegas Check out our Las Vegas Real Estate Portal. I have a couple of sites with very little content that rank well in Google. Three sites are Agent sites that I have been waiting on content from my clients.

But I believe you are correct about rather Google requires it or not, content should be there for your visitors.

Real estate sites should always be built with the consumer in mind. We are though sometimes forced to forget this because of google and their lack of considering content when choosing to rank one site over another.

Is Content Still King?
But it is not just Google. I have noticed this trend in the other search engines as well.
