The Potentail of Inner Pages
Naturally enough, most of us consider the home page of our websites to be the most important, and gear our efforts towards high SERP for our keywords on that page.
But inner pages can also have an important role to play in driving traffic and should not be seen only as support for the home page but as potential traffic builders in their own right.
Very important from this point of view is internal linking, not just from the navigation bar but by using anchored links from the body of the content. Many sites have a good PR for their home page but little or none for their other pages and I believe that could be largely due to poor internal linking.
Why does it matter? Well for example I have a page dedicated to the local weather in my area.
Not only is it a service for browsers who have come to my site to look at real estate, but anyone searching for “Altinkum weather” will find my page at number 4 on the first page of a Google search. If they come to my site for the weather, there is the chance they will stay and look at other pages. Likewise anyone looking for “maps of Altinkum” will find my maps page at number 7.
Even in just a search for “Altinkum” my information page is at number 16.
My point is that your internal pages can work for you and their potential should not be ignored.

The common mistake of some people in SEOing their website and building links is that they mostly focus much on their homepage rather than their inner pages.
The logic actually is that, having to much link going to your homepage may cause bad rather than good.
