How can I increase the number of visits?

My site has an average of 400 visits per day. What are the strategies to follow for me to increase the number of visits to 1000 or more. It will be beneficial if any one can suggest the sites where postings and back links can help increase my site's visits.

I have also encountered a problem of my site appearing and disappearing suddenly in the search engines. Can anyone tell me why this happens and what I have to do to ensure that my site stays!!!

Just continue link building your site..And also update your site's content by creating your own fresh and quality articles, not just you copy from other site or blog..

This is called a Google dance. As long as your site isn't deindexed you're fine and this is normal. If you're building links to your site you will see this happen as Google readjusts rankings.

Getting more traffic is all about ranking better or for more keywords when it comes to SEO. You're other options are social networking or advertising.

You need to work on the site all the time if you want to have the same number of visitors all the time. Start with social networks and promote there.

For me, I prefer generating a unique and informative content which users can read and get interested with. You might also take the time to join those Top Social Networking Sites. We all know that these type of sites brings a huge number of traffic to a certain site if you only know how to promote your site to the community...
