Submitting A Sitemap To Popular Search Engines.

A sitemap is just a xml index of the webpages on your website. It helps in several different ways, from telling search engines specific information about individual pages, to simply raising search engines awareness of pages they might have missed.

Here is automatic generator to create a sitemap for your website.
Once you have created it, put it on your server in the root directory (main folder) of your website, and submit to all the popular search engines.

Google Sitemaps

Here is where you submit it for google. You have to sign up for an account.

Here is a tutorial about submitting it in Google.

Yahoo

This where you submit it to yahoo. You have to sign up for account or use your previous yahoo account

Once logged in you can either submit a new website and submit a feed for that website, Or just submit a feed for your website. The feed would be the url to your sitemap.

Bing

There are two ways to submit to Bing (formerly Live Search).

You can either go to their webmasters tools here. Sign up for an account and submit your website or feed.

Or if you don't feel like doing all that, you can just pop the url below in your address bar in your browser, hit enter or go, and it will submit it instantly.

Replace yourwebsitename.com with your domain, and if your sitemap is not named sitemap.xml, change it as well.

Sometimes it takes a longer time for a site to index your Website. Though thanks for the list, but there are websites that submit your site to multiple search engines, I'm just not sure if its effective.

Submitting sitemaps is an absolute must.. Do not use automatic submitters unless you are using the wordpress plugin.

What automatic submitters usually do anyway, is submit your websites home page url. What sitemaps do is let the search engines know EVERY url you have.

If you want to rank high, do not skip submitting sitemaps.

That's a good post about sitemap. It's good to submit your sitemap to search engines to tell them about the pages that they might not be discovered by their normal crawling process.

do i have to submit a sitemap for each search engines or some of them or just one??

if you submit your XML map to Google through webmaster tools...you can expect to be crawled in a day at THE MOST!

XML (for google)
your website language (eg ASPX OHO HTML...) for visitors
