Ways of getting index:
1. Search Engine Submission
2. Ping your site
3. Creating quality of inbound links or back links.
4. Create a sitemap - it helps your sub-pages get listed on search engines.

I have to agree with Amber on his/her first 2 suggestions. Submitting your site to search engine and pinging it if it has new contents will let your site be indexed way way faster.

I think I have tried this one out. Creating a blog then then putting an anchor text with hyperlink, but I am not quite sure if google indexed it within 24 hours because I've been doing other SEO techniques regularly for my site to get indexed and generate more traffic. But if you have tried it and it really works then that's great!

You really only need #2 and #3 but for #3 do it by bookmarking it on social bookmarking sites.
Another great way to get it indexed is by adding your RSS feed to multiple feed aggregators. If you don't have an RSS feed you can create one with html2rss for a free and quick way to create an RSS feed.
Depending on the site I usually can get a new page on an established site indexed in a couple of hours and get a new website indexed in 24-72 hours.

Most avoid flash
Most web sites that are focused on SEO avoid flash. There are ways around it by running parallel content, but not worth the hassle.
