Any kind of Link system is a bad idea...period! Why? Think about it for a minute: everyone is focused on getting traffic TO your website - why on earth would you put links on it to allow visitors to LEAVE your website?

There are those who say you need links for SEO - not true at all - there are soooo many other ways to do SEO without using links. Links are a bad idea...period.

I agree that it's a bad idea. If you exchange your links Google can check it out very easily, the only opportunity to increase the number of your participants, but I think it won't help.

There are good and there are bad link wheel building strategies.

Here is a bad technique: to mask reciprocal links from other websites. The way it works that your site A is linking to site B and B to site C and C to site A.

Ah, common people. Google engineers are much smarter than that to determine repetitive linking patterns. Although link wheels may work temporarily, eventually the pattern will be revealed and your ranks will drop.

Here is a good technique: Include social media sites, write articles, link to other sites and blogs which are also connected to social media and blogs and have a large ring of links. Expand your wheel continuously and work with other wheels, so basically it will become an organic process with a little push from you .

wow...I can not believe how many people post opinions and act as though they are facts.

linkwheels have zero.... I repeat zero to do with link exchanges.

Before I go any farther with this discussion you should know that we have built 100's of a variations of linkwheels. (and gotten tons of traffic with it)

Linkwheels are nothing more than a modified form of article marketing, with a touch of social bookmarking thrown in for good measure.

I have some free info on these things and when I have been here long enough to post links I'll provide more info on the subject.

Link Wheel is a method to promote the links. If you have a link on Facebook then you can share it on Blog & again it in twitter & again in flickr, its series, its called link wheel.
