Blog - Best ways to send lots of new traffic to it
hey, james here... i've been running a small blog now for a little over a year, and just recently after reading alot on some of these different forums ive started trying to monetize my blog with adsense and am looking to find different easy ways to send lots of new traffic. So far since i started ive just been dropping alot of links in comments i post on others blogs.. and doing the social bookmarking thing which is where most of my traffic comes from using the automated software from bmdemon.pcti-system. com .. which im sure most of you are probably using also. But I was jus curious, as im still fairly new to this, what are some other easy effective ways i could drive alot of new traffic to my blog? And furthermore, for those other methods for traffic are you aware of any other software like bm demon that will automate those methods for me that isnt going to cost me much?? As I work 40 hours a week and often find myself with very limited time to work on this project... Any advice / comments / suggestions would be very appreciated!! thanks

Honestly, if you want to have successful blog and you are already in work over your head, it wont work. Web is demanding business, and there is always something to be done, and there is no such thing which you put on autopilot to success. There is no "silver bullet", since blog is kinda more personal than other web forms, the best thing you could do is generate a lot of interesting content, sometimes it might help to include some similar themes, just to broad the auditorium, next is promoting, and best way for blog is guerrilla advertising, like signatures on blogs, writing articles for other sites and link to you, you have to seed your niche across the web, and therefor your niche must be closest to unique, and then you will feel some real results.

For blogs, a good way to get backlinks is to submit every post to a blog carnival. For longtail keywords, you can rank well with only a couple inbound links, which you can get from these blog carnivals.
You might also check out some free seo guides, do a search on google for "free seo ebook" and download a couple of those, 30 minutes of reading will likely give you some good ideas.

Blog carnivals are great, also rss submission is another great way of increasing traffic.

Blogs is a nice and simple way of driving traffic to your site. Simple because all you need a good click-through-rate within your page...that can be accomplished by adding more links to other web sites, and having your link in other web sites...this creates more click-through activity...also if you have a simple Blog without major graphics ever where it allows Googles spider-bots to reach and read your info (HTML text) faster and more efficiently.

Set up an email subscription form on your blog and invite everyone in your network to subscribe: family, friends, colleagues, clients, associates. Set up a feed on MyYahoo.com so your site gets regularly spidered by the Yahoo search engine. Use Ping-0-matic to ping blog directories. Do this every time you publish. Add a link to your blog in your email signature file. Put a link to your blog on every page of your website. Make a commitment to blog everyday. 10 minutes a day can help increase your traffic as new content attracts search engine spiders. Put it on your calendar as a task every day at the same time. Just spread the URL all over the internet.

Sites like technoratti allow you to generate a bit of coverage for your blog posts.
If you participate in other peoples/companies blogs then you may find even though the back link is worth zero to you due to the nofollow, you still receive people coming to your site. Obviously what you contribute needs to be worthwhile and posts like "great" won't help at all.
Read up a bit on SEO, bookmarking and article submission and try and get some decent inbound link activity on the go. Eventually you might find people coming to your blog from Google searches.

You can also submit it your in several blog directories or submission sites. This can also be useful for increasing traffic to your blog. You can also comment on other relevant blogs.

Blogs are a lot of work and usually have very little payoff without putting in a lot of time.
If you want a lot of traffic you need to do a lot of keyword research and have each post optimized around a set of keywords. Then you should also start writing articles and submitting them to article directories.
BM demon is nice, I use onlywire but both are limited.
I use a couple of services that bring me a lot of legit social bookmarks. If you're interested PM me about it. I don't like to mention them on forums. One is a paid service and the other is free. The paid one is really cheap though and gets you a ton of social bookmarks from other users.
Both help me to attain first page listings for my sites.
