    Default Backlinks and SERPS

So, I check this daily for our home sale website. We will be on page 2 one day for a certain keyword and then on page 5 the next for the same keyword, what gives? I have been busy trying to build up one way links but it is hard, most people want a reciprocal link, we do offer these people something in return just not a reciprocal link.

I have done some blog commenting, some directory submissions ( I research these to the fullest) niche directories.

Also I check the inlinks we have going to our site by using Yahoo and one day we will have 260 the next day 230 the next day it's back up again, and so on and so forth. How can that be?

Any advice would be fully appreciated.

The difference you are seeing in link totals is because it only counts those pages that are indexed carrying your links. As to the yo-yo effect you are witnessing this is normal for nearly all websites during the early stages. Your will bounce higher as time goes on if you continue to add relevent, unique content and build links at a steadly increasing rate. SEO is an on going battle if you want to reach the top in search you will have to keep working on it or hire someone to do it for you. If you hire someone becareful on who you pick and assure that they will not participate in black hat practices.

    SEO search engines optimization

means you optimize your site to get high rank in search engines

there are 2 tyoes of seo:

    1-on page seo
that you optimize your site page with your targeted keyword in
metatag ( contents, keyword, descriptions ) and you also you optimize your contents to your targeted keyword.
and after that you submit your site to search engines and your site will be indexed for your keyword.

    2-off page optimizations
means you how to drive traffic to your site

i wish i had answered your question
if you need any help contact me
and i am ready to any qestion

The page drop is really annoying isnt it? My advice - don't just do directory submission and forum posting. Although not yet confirmed, I heard that directory links are not valued that much by search engines, forum sigs are not far off too.

Although the forum links and blog comments do not count as much, it is still an important part of the process. Google looks at the whole picture, instead of just a few aspects of the site in order to make its determination. Towards the beginning you will see a strange yo yo back and forth, but over time things will stabilize, and your website will be up near the top if you have followed all of the advice here.

    I love this forum

Forum posting and blog comments are still playing important role for gainings backlinks. About directory it is said that there is no importance but somewhere it is also useful as many people are still doing manually and they also get some benefits.

I am starting to lose patience with directories. Most of them doesn't even bother to approve and the site itself is considerably trash, by Google. One of these days I'll be dropping this in my task list.

Like you say you are doing blog commenting for the website.
Blog commenting gives short tern link for your site. It is gone quickly
It is the big reason that your position is changing so do continuous blog commenting on that blog it will help you to retain your backlinks.
