Using Video for SEO
Can anyone clarify if embedding a YouTube video link on my site will help overall SEO in the same way that hosting the video file directly in my control panel would? Obviously hosting the entire video directly on my back end would slow the loading page time and possibly bog down my site.
Do search engines treat a video "link" the same as any other outgoing link? I have video and I want to squeeze the most SEO bang-for-the-buck out of it.

If you intend to promote your video through your web site, than yes. Putting link, or embedding video would definitively improve that video in SE's index. I would advise you to link to your videos from your site, and to place some kind of logo or web address to your videos, you could at least get some visitors from videos. I hope that I was helpful.

Thanks Scout, but I'm wondering if the embedded video will help my primary site rankings? I see what you're saying about helping my video rankings, but I'm trying to increase the rankings of of my primary site, not my video post.
Make sense?David Wittlinger, Author

Unfortunately it doesn't. Simple reason for that is: Services like YT do not allow any of back links to your site. Maybe you could put link to description area on your video page, but I doubt that SE's are crawling that, and if they do, I don't think that it is quality link(won't boost your position). So my advice for inserting URL into video, wont help your SEO ranking, but could bring you some direct visitors who will type URL into their browser and visit your site.

That article is good, but if I understood correctly, DWittlinger wants to boost his SEO, with video. And article above aims towards promoting your videos. But anyway, it is good to have as much promotion you can have, video and on site. So far I haven't heard that video could affect web site SEO, but, on the other hand does not means it is not possible,

Inserting links to any part of the youtube website is not going to give you any backlinks...they all are "no-follow
" .
Now just the besy you can do is you can have some backlinks from your website to that particular video which for your company and then try to promote it in Youtube. You can insert text in the video for your advertisements.
