    Default Property Tax Info

Income tax, sales tax, estate tax, excise tax,.......just when you think you have paid them all, along comes the property tax bill for the home owner. Did you know that the National Taxpayers Union estimates that 60% of homes are assessed too high, resulting in an incorrect tax bill?
The good news is that you can contact your local tax assessor's office and ask for someone in the reassessment area. Go from there with a current appraisal, etc. Submitting an appeal is generally a simple process. About 33% of property tax appeals succeed.

How exactly does the appeal process work? Is there a report or other document that gets generated in case of a dispute over value?

What about the 67% that are not resolved? Presumably many of these are still overappraised.
