Buy Owner HUGE HELP
I'm a big fan of selling by owner, on your own without a real estate agent. As a former realtor and broker, I know better than anyone that agents don't deserve to be paid 6% of your selling price. You can do it yourself!
There's nothing that an agent can do for you that you can't do yourself.
Personally, I've been especially satisifed with a particular FSBO company: Buy Owner. After using the company a few times, I have to say I'm left with not one complaint and really all praise! They were helpful, successful, and professional.
My properties--in each situation--were showcased beautifully, with professional images, quality descriptions and well-designed virtual tours.
If you are considering selling your home on your own, check out my series on FSBO companies, along with all the resources I've posted to help you with your transaction.
This is my passion; talk to me!

Since you like FSBOs so much, what do you think of our Las Vegas for Sale by Owner program? We launched in 2005 and it kind of fizzled out as we got busier with other projects, but we just relaunched in December of 2007.
Looking forward to your comments!

You are funny Jane. Good luck with your business venture - but making statements about agents like that are misleading and not true. If people want to go FSBO, I'm all for it. There certainly is a market for it.
But if you really were an agent, then you know how hard you worked to make each commission. Yes, the easy ones do come every once in a while...but most of all it was a lot of hard work.Search the Orlando MLS for free to locate homes throughout the central Florida region. I have sold properties by my self and with a realtor. I personally don't care for the "list then sit back and wait approach" that my realtor took. Sure, they kept up on the paperwork, but they didn't do anything other than put the property on the multilist. Maybe I had my expectations too high.

Fsbo Mls
Right,
I believe in FSBO but the great thing about real estate is the amount of avenues you have to market your product.
From full service to FSBO we all have our nitche.

In reality, there is nothing that we pay for that we cannot do by ourselves...if we really want to. it all comes down to how much time and energy you are willing to dissipate on it.

A bad Realtor is not worth 6%, but a good one probably is. It takes a lot of work to sell a home. If you can afford to sit on the home for a while, then maybe you can do it yourself. But for most people they need to sell their home ASAP and doing it yourself may take much more time than if you were to use a very good Realtor.

FSBOjane, did you deserve the 6% commission you quoted when you were an agent/broker?
If you did deserve it, it stands to reason that you are not the only agent that deserves to be paid for their work, whatever the % commission amount is.
I feel so sorry for FSBO that really needs to sell and spends money on products/services that do not help them sell their property. Such as products or services that give no guarantees and must be paid for upfront.
But to make a blanket statement that agents do not deserve to make money to just try to sell your product says volumes. Insulting your competition does not make your product/service better. Being a better product/service than your competition makes you better than your competition.
Cheaper is not always better. If I need professional help with an issue as serious as selling/buying real estate, I would not look for the cheapest way but the best way.Last edited by markbrian; 02-24-2009 at 04:32 PM. Reason: spelling
