The best way to promote is PPC and SEO, so stick with this. Use ezine articles to get back links.

Obviously there is the major search engines, google, msn, yahoo for PPC advertising which many people use.
For promoting your website you need to get your website established on the net by getting your website known by the search engines, by getting quality links back to your website - one way links are better, even though starting a link campaign for a couple of months just to get your website noticed could help although I don't do exchange anymore.
Add your website to free directories, write articles as the last post said, get free adverts selling your properties and add a link pointing back to your website - there are hundreds of free sites to advertise on.
Take part in forums such as this one, add your website to your signature, write a testimonials of products that you have brought and add a link to that.
I think you get the kind of thing that we are saying - get your website about and known.
That's a couple of off sites things that will help, but you need to also concentrate onsite, i.e - valid script, good content, well optimised, readable content (for search engines), also user friendly as well as creating a site just for the SE's.
There is 101 different things that can help, and hurt as well - just do more research on the net.

While you're figuring out the specifics, get as many links as you can into the site. Try and stay away from reciprocal linking.

Blogs are a great way as well. Just be sure to use a blog that will be picked up. Some are better than others and you should find your self spreading out over about 3 different ones.

I assume you are trying to target a local audience. The best advice I can think of is think like a buyer/seller. Where would you go to start your search, Many people use the newspaper, some like craigslist, even a single piece of paper newsletter that you can farm 1000 people a month. It does not have to cost you a whole lot. Ask a few random people where they would start their search.Whatever you choose, consistency important. Don't do short burst of advertising expecting big results. Get a schedule and keep to it.
