How to make successful businessmen?

Hi all,

Talking about running on a business or joining in a trading platform, what do you think about the factors helping a businessman or a trader to be successful?

What make profitable businessmen or traders? I think of knowledge and luck. How about you?

When I think of a profitable businessman I think of a person who is very thought out in their actions and are able to seperate themselves emotionally from the decision at hand. In my mind, luck is not really that important as when people are more precise and only take action on well thought out ideas they become more "lucky." But that is just one perspective.

Good question Albert! When I think of a "profitable businessman" I think of somebody that is very intelligent, calculates his/her decisions very carefully, and is also extremely careful about who they reveal their hand to and when; somebody who carries and handles themselves in a professional matter, and above all is willing to WORK to achieve their goals. As Eric hinted at, individuals with these character traits tend to "create their own luck," rather than "get lucky."

I have read an article that most successful businessman are risk-takers. They are quite experimenting on possibilities that mostly lead them to succeed. They know how to manage defeat and learn from it until they achieve their goals. They are also long-term minded - meaning they aim much not ony short-term goals but on long term goals.
