How to Multiple Post on Craigslist and Avoid Ad Ghosting and Account Bans
This question comes up a lot for me and what I found is people make frequent mistakes when using craigslist to advertise on.
So what do you need to do to multiple post on Craigslist?
- First, you will need multiple phone verified accounts. If you do this yourself you will need to have a list of phone number available that you can use to verify the accounts with.
The thing you need to remember is that Craigslist tracks your IP address so make sure that you don't use the same IP address for all of the accounts. 1 or 2 accounts is not a big deal but when you start doing multiple accounts your asking for them to get locked.
- If you plan on using more than 5 accounts you will need to line up IP addresses that you can use. Don't use free proxies. There are a lot of companies out there that sell premium proxies.
- One very important thing you need to remember and people make this mistake time and time again is that you need to abide by the posting guidelines. Don't post more than 1 ad per account per 48 hours. You will just get your ads ghosted.
- The last thing you need to know is how to create ads that won't get ghosted or your account locked. I recommend using image ads. You should try to avoid links if possible but it's not mandatory. Upload multiple copies with different names to a free photo sharing site.
Then when you use it in the ad make sure to add a very light color yellow font with a bunch of wording in your niche. Doesn't have to be coherent people aren't going to read it. Just look at other ads and you will see what I mean.
Hope that helps.

I know you are selling services, but that was really an informative post. I am going to have my son look into this as not many of our ads seem to actually be on craigslist very long!

Obviously I do have services I provide but the guide is free for everyone to have and use. I spent a lot of time writing it up.

I didn't take it the wrong way just wanted to make sure people understood that I wasn't just posting this thread for promotional purposes. I'm just trying to offer something that people can use. No offense taken.

Getting a private domain helps as well
Great information on the post above. I also wanted to share the following regarding Craigslist, as I ran a little experiment recently:
-If you use @gmail.com, @yahoo.com, @aol.com...etc (any FREE email account on a MAJOR email domain like these), you will definitely have to phone verify the account (keep in mind this may also be the case if you work for a major company...all it takes is a few people abusing the rules to make a domain suspect to Craigslist).
-I've found that when I submit an email address from a domain that I've bought (i.e. @myowndomain.com), I may have to phone verify the first one, but I don't have to phone verify the subsequent emails that get set up (but to reiterate the original post...don't post from the same IP Address within a 48 hour window to the multiple accounts that you set up).

Thanks for posting a very informative post. I've been using Craigslist several times, and I must say,it wil really consume most of your time, you can just hire other person to this job for you.

I only have one account in craiglist and I get many traffic referrals from this classified site. So I think it's good to only have one account to avoid from being banned.

Multiple Posts
I agree with this if you are marketing in only one market, but as I have to do in my medical student housing business, I need an account for each city I operate in (chicago@, baltimore@, etc), not so much to "fool" craigslist, but to keep myself sane. I know immediately which city's Craigslist ad the response is coming from...but I still have to follow all of the above rules to keep from getting Ghosted or Blacklisted.
