In South Carolina the Broker in Charge is the one that manages other agents. The Broker in Charge attends meetings.
Helps his or her agents with training, assisting with disputes over contracts and attends to that managing of the daily office staff.
Each company may have additional duties required by the BOC. This person can list and sell property too.

An Agent or in the future a Broker Associate (in SC) is someone who can work part time or full time.
They assist buyers and sellers with their real estate needs. I would prefer someone full time in most instances, if I were not in the business. Hope this helps you.
    Good luck with your search.

As a real estate agent you have to have your licenses held by a real estate broker you are not allowed to do anything in your own name it has to be in your brokers name or the company's name.

To become a real estate agent you have to be at least 18, take the class and pass the state exam.

To become a real estate broker you have to be an active real estate agent for 1 year take a class and pass the state exam. After wards you can do anything that you like in your own name. You can even open your own real estate business

A real estate broker has the right to practice real estate independent of any other person.
A real estate agent is licensed to practice real estate, but only under the direct supervision of a broker. Without a broker to oversee their activities and take responsibility for their actions a real estate agent is not allowed to practice.

    i found this on wikipedia.org:

A real estate broker is a term in the United States and Canada that describes a party who acts as an intermediary between sellers and buyers of real estate (or real property as it is known elsewhere) and attempts to find sellers who wish to sell and buyers who wish to buy.

Real Estate agent is the term used in the United Kingdom to describe a person or organization whose business is to market real estate on behalf of clients, but there are significant differences between the actions and liabilities of brokers and estate agents in each country. Beyond the US, other countries take markedly different approaches to the marketing and selling of real property.

    Default In short...

Real estate broker oversees the actions of real estate agent and makes sure that all the transaction documentation is complete and proper.

To become a real estate broker one has to be licensed as real estate agent first and then study to become a broker.

Most states require real estate sales professionals to be licensed by the state, so that they can control education and experience requirements and have a central authority to resolve consumer problems.
The terminology used to identify real estate professionals varies a little from state to state. Brokers are generally required to have more education and experience than real estate salespersons or agents.

A Real Estate agent represents buyers and/or sellers with every step of the purchase and sale of property, including pricing, marketing, showing the home, creating legal paperwork and facilitating escrow services. A Real Estate brokers can also perform these services, but generally just oversee and approve the work of agents under them.
