Sure the whole murder thing put an edge on things, but everyone is on Craigslist as much as they are on IDX sites. The beautiful thing about craigslist is these are now buyers, not 6 months down the road. If you really use this tool, post nice looking ads and do it daily you will get a buyer. While posting on classifieds sites like Craigslist can be effective, and cheap, I still believe article marketing is the cheapest (if you write the articles yourself it is free) and most effective.

If you write interesting and engaging articles about a certain topic, and submit them to article directories such as Ezinearticles, there are huge benefits you will see.

Included in each article is a resource box, where you describe your business and provide a link to your site. Webmasters and blogs will pick your article up from the directories and post your articles on their sites, which will increase the prominence of your articles. This means more people will know about you, more people will trust your knowledge (if it is a good article that provides them with massive value), and as a result more people will click through to your site from the resource box.

Before they even reach your site, they are presold on you, which makes the selling process that much easier.

If you compare posting one ad to Craigslist and posting one article to EzineArticles, the difference in results can be huge. After just a few days, your article on EzineArticles will be picked up and posted around the internet, meaning you will have multiple sites linking back to your site, and the direct traffic that will come from people reading your article. There's also a good chance your article will have already been indexed by Google, so you can have one of your articles on the first page of Google preselling people and pointing them straight back to your site.

Meanwhile, your one Craigslist ad is still just one ad.

In my case, I spend almost of my time marketing in various social networking website such as twitter, facebook - almost some seo stuff. I also post in classified ads to advertise products.

But besides that, I do second the Article Submission sites, Craigslist, and Social Media like Facebook and Twitter.
