Default Advertising your business on Facebook

Advertising your business on Facebook is an excellent idea for your business. Best of all, it's free! All you have to do is invest some time and energy into it, and you can have your business linked to a Facebook page in no time (just a few minutes). With a Facebook business page, the owner (admin) can upload photos, write a description, send out fan updates, and pay for targeted advertising. Fans can participate in discussions, post videos, post on the wall, post links, and more.

Why do I have the feeling that facebook and myspace and this kind of social networking websites are frequented by mostly teenagers?

Obviously if I would market something for that target, I would definitly do a facebook/myspace webpage... with cool things like... Menthos and coke

honestly I dont really think a serious business would rely efforts into such avenues... maybe I'm wrong. Any success stories?

I keep hearing that social networking is the next big thing for RE. And I have taken the time to create a profile on both, and to create ads on both. Of course, it is free and the links are going to my website. But in about 4 weeks, no hits, only 1 lead and that person only wanted to know the location of the propery. The location was in the title of the ad..DUH. But if my job is to use every means possible to sell my clients property, then why not try it? It is free and cannot hurt.

I'm kind of expecting this outcome. Honestly, I would be VERY surprised for a different turn by advertising to Facebook.

Do you guys remember that Seinfeld episode when Krammer was fighting karate with kids? That's how I feel about Real Estate or any serious business & Social Networking.

    Michael,

From what a few agents have said on the real estate webmasters forum facebook ads work very well. I also have noticed that it is very popular with college students from the Ivies as well as the last couple of years college grads. They are even staying active after leaving school this tells me that the outlets are going to get very popular over the next few years. It never hurts to be an inovator. Also mainy the the article social networking site bring fantastic traffic that converts very well wth the right kinds of articles. Just my .02.

thanks james for your toughts. Yes, that's what I'm thinking to... young ppl. But these young ppl dont have to much money to spend, especially when it comes about to buy a house.

Traffic, yes, I'm sure of that... But who needs traffic? I have about 3k loads a day on my website... and... how many customers I had over the time from that?? like, maybe 10... that's pretty much what I get when I do an office presentation of some sort...

Young people have money and many will qualify for first time buyer programs. I think helping a younger person to start their life off by buying their first home could lead to many more benefits down the road. Referrals from said young buyers when they show their friends the new home they are paying less for each month than the freinds are paying in rent. And the friends will want to know how, and you are the how.

I know about 100 people on facebook, they are all between 25 and 45. Im sure most people on there are under 18. Dont forget, young people know older people as well. You dont show up at the kids soccer practice to sell yourself to the kids on the feild, you hit up the adults on the sidelines

Regardless what we think about myspace, facebook and other social networking sites, we need to be paying attention to what young people are doing with their use of technology. We may be caught missing the next great thing if we don't keep our eyes open. By the way, I am seeing a lot more facebook use among people from their 30's and up than the younger crowd.

I agree with you; and if it doesn't satisfy you enough, you can target facebook advertising towards any age group of your choice so you won't have to spend money from showing ads to 16 year olds
