Blogs are great for generating traffic but they're even more useful for keeping people up to date with relevant information.

You have to think about using blogs in more dimensions than just one (traffic).

They help build personality, rapport, trust, education... etc.

Use them the right way and blogs can be a great asset in your RE Marketing arsenal.

Blogs are always a good source for getting your name out there and are helpful in building backlinks, and as matt mentioned I think wordpress is the best blog out there right now to launch your blog. Wordpress offers many different customized templates which are easy to post, track, and SE friendly.

Another great place to build instant and long term traffic is trafficswarm. I just signed up yesterday and already addicated. I didn't get to sleep last night until 4:00am bec. I was setting up campaigns, links and checking out millions of sites. Absolutely brilliant idea, wish I would of come up with it.

Yep.. Those are very useful.. but there are also some techniques that are missing... Blogging is one of them, but you should first think of the quality content. Next would be the overall setup of your website. It should have chosen the right keywords to attract your targeted viewers. If you already fix those things, you then go to the next step which is off page optimization..

Traffic is good, but the idea is that you want relevant and targeted traffic to your site.

If you're an agent in SC you may not want to show up in NY agent results unless you have vested interest.

Many times people get into adwords and advertising and make that mistake.

Fresh, Compelling and Relevant content will make people visit your site regularly and they might tell it to their friends thru word of mouth. Search Engine Optimization is also a key on getting targeted long term traffic. Of course it should be maintained.
