I think you should know seo basics because a lot of companies promise you the first page of search engines, but all they are really doing is pay per clicks.

It only takes a few hours per week to get the results you need. if the words you are searching for are very competitive, then go for search phrases.

SEO companies can really help a website IMO, i think most of its work is done exclusively to make your website known to search engines and stuff by link exchange or something, so I think it can help.

I have had bad luck with actual seo companies, besides their high prices the work left little to be desired. However, if you go to some webmaster forums like digital point and so on, you can hire people to do specific seo jobs for really cheap, thats the way to go in my opinion.

Most SEO companies fail to deliver what they promise. Mainly because the client does not have any knowledge on SEO.

I would suggest you learn the basics yourself first. When you hire somebody ask for referrals, what websites and what keywords they got ranked well. Link building is one major SEO technique. Ask them if they have a solid plan for that.

Not exactly...We offer SEO services to real estate companies. We have clients ranking on top 3 with very competitive search terms like Miami Real Estate #1 on Google,,, etc. We have been offering our SEO services to some of our clients for 3-4 years... We do not use PPC..
PPC cost of "Miami Real Estate" search term is close to 24k a month

    Thanks

I totally agree with you.. 95% of SEO Companies are BSs..
Ask for referrals, ask their rankings with competitive search terms not with easy tricky terms.. Call their top ranking clients and ask about the benefits they are getting from the SEO services....

    Thanks

the more you can educate yourself before hiring a company, the more that you will be able to hire the right person for the job and get a good value for your investment. a lot of SEO can be done by yourself or someone on your team in house.

one thing that's important to point out is that SEO is not just one method of driving traffic, it's really only one part of an effective online marketing strategy.

on one side of the coin you have traffic generation, the other side of the coin is conversion. how are you going to convert that traffic into leads and clients?

by all means, work on driving traffic, but also continue to refine your conversion engine.

I think using SEO for your site is really helpful given the fact that its a real SEO company. Because the traditional advertising isn't really that effective anymore. The use of search engine optimization gives you more chances because your not looking for them, their looking for you by way of Search Engines so the traffic going to you is targeted unlike those ads on TV etc. When you advertise on TV anyone can see it even though their not really interested. I think for me, using SEO on your site will greatly improve your business. But of course, not everyone gets successful with it.
