    Default Buying Space on Websites

Is it a good idea to buy space on other websites to place my company's advertisement?

It can be a good iea, but I always avaoid for one simple reason - Google dispises paid links on sites, and despite what people will tell you, it will come down on you eventually.

However if you use a company like TradeDoubler (in the UK) then you can legitamately use ad space.

Technically misch.chief, you are correct, but I think cgillespie's question is a little ambiguous to know whether or not doing this would be frowned upon by search engines.

If he is just planning on buying some advertisement space to promote his site, there should not be any problems with that.

On the other hand, if he plans on just paying for a backlink, then (s)he may have some problems with the search engines.

There is nothing wrong with advertising on other sites. After all, sites do have to make money...

It actually depends on in what sort of sites you are placing your company ad ? It will be better if you could do so in sites that are flocked by people such as a video sharing site.
