    Default Master Your Marketing

Just thought I would allow the real estate community to follow my ordeal with the Master Your Marketing Program.

I decided to try a program that would help me progress my business, and found the Todd Bates system. Basically it stated you try the system step by step, and you will double your commissions of the previous year or your money back.

I first signed up for a total for $1295, I was contacted not even an hour later by my credit card company with a fraud alert. They said the Master Your Marketing company charged $995 which cleared, but followed up with another charge of $995, which American Express flagged because it was back to back. Then minutes later the Master Your Marketing company attempted another charge of $500, which is when American Express called to alert me of what was going on, and wanted to know if these charges were authorized. I said only one, for 1295, they responded that no combination of charges added up to the amount of 1295 and it appears to be some type of fraud and they would have their investigators look into it if I would like.

I contacted Todd Bates about this, and he said only one person works in billing and they would never do something like this, and that the credit card company was making a mistake.

So I called back American Express to ask them if they were sure there was no mistake. All Three charges were made by Todd Bates/David Bates company. It was a red flag, so I called Todd Bates back to get my refund, but he said that they had a discount price they were offering. and I was only going to be billed for that discount price. Unfortunately I accepted the price.

Next, I would email him with questions, which he always seemed to be very busy by the responses I would get. Following his program, he recomended to start with one program, but I asked him what would be best in this market to start with. He told me to just do both, because I seemed motivated. That was it.

Needless to say, I made much less in 2007, than 2006, so I requested a refund. Didn't here back from the email I sent. Followed up a week later, got a response back. Basically He saying now that his guarentee was If you make only 1 commission you don't get your refund. When I signed up, it stated if you don't double your commissions of the previous year you will get your refund. I feel he is obviously trying to avoid giving me my refund, by trying to change his guarantee. I logged onto his website, which says he is no longer taking clients, but has a new program. Just beware. Also he said he is removing me from his program. Can he do that when he isn't giving me my money back. For those who were considering this program, my advice is to stay away. I will be filing a small claims suit against him this week for those who want to follow along. I will keep everyon updated.

Also anyone else with these experiences please let me know.
    Thanks.

Here is one of the original emails in regards to the overcharging. Mr. Bates simply tried to say it was my mistake, and that I must have submitted the authorize to pay button more than once. However, I read directions, and submitted only once, and had a reciept for the 1295.00. Then he said it must have been a mistake by the Credit Card Company.
    995+995=1990
    995+500=1495
Mr. Bates said they don't do seperate charges either, but just one charge for the total amount.

Here is the email, his responses to my emails were by phone.

I emailed billing, but maybe you can help as well. My credit card company called me with a fraud alert, and said a charge went through for 995 dollars, which cleared.

Then it was followed up by an additional charge for 995 dollars and then a third charge for 500 dollars. Both did not clear because of the second charge for 995 dollars.

I am 110% sure I submitted the charge approval once. As well as the total I agreed to and am shown a reciept for is 1295 dollars. Not any of those combination of amounts will add up to 1295 dollars.

My credit card company is awaiting my decision on investigating the charges further. I need a follow up of why this happened, before I let them go forward with an investigation.

    Thanks.

WOW, what a crazy ordeal. I can say now that i have been warned! Maybe enough of these bad experiences will come out and stop this type of service.
