I think social marketing is the trend everyone seems to be going. I think it is a good idea since it seems to be popular.

Hmmm...social networking. In theory it sounds like a good idea, however in reality I don't know if you would see any worth while results. Don't get me wrong, social networking works, if you're a band or something along those lines.
I have heard quite a bit of buzz about it, however when I have asked those who are doing it to show me some hard numbers, I never hear back from them. I can only assume that they are either not tracking their marketing efforts or that they aren't getting the results they are claiming.

I'm the editor of a real estate trade magazine based in Chicago. Many of the real estate agents I've interviewed lately have vouched for the benefits of online social networking. One agent I spoke to said she closed nine deals last year that she credits to her MySpace page.
It's hard for me to fathom how anyone can invest enough time in sites such as Facebook or MySpace to make them pay off business-wise, but it looks like some real estate agents are doing it.
Just my thoughts.

I may have to eat a little crow on that...nine deals from MySpace is pretty incredible. However, I think it may be the exception, not the rule.
Is there anyone else out there that has any feedback on social network marketing?

And what about the more serious Linkedin.com? Do you have any experience with it? I started thinking about Social networks and I'm trying to develop a strategy for them.
Is there anybody else who could share his experience with this ?Investing in Romania - www.investland.eu

Also think it is a good idea
I have to agree it is a good idea, if you keep it up. You cant just start it and not keep it up. It takes more time than you would expect to stay on top of it, but it is worth if it is done well. You just have to stay creative and keep plugging away.

I think it is worth doing for the reason stated above - it gets you noticed as many places as possible, but in Real Estate, it can be very hard to actually make sales - to have made 9 on myspace is pretty damn good!!
