Default New URL for each service??

I was wondering if some people use a different URL for each type of marketing? What I mean is if your offering info to renters, first timers, market analysis, or whatever your cause, do you use a seperate url that points to your main site on the page that gives that info.

Example, if you want to sell renters on buying, maybe the domain name on your marketing piece would be WhyRentdotcom, but yet it would point to your main site... and land on that page was about the renting vs buying

Or do you think its better to have your main domain on all marketing and just have them navigate through your site from the main page

I hope this question makes sense, Im not sure I explained it correctly.

This will all depend on whether you wish to track your marketing efforts. For instance, if you do some targeted promotional advertising that is specific to renters, then by including that specific URL address that points them to either a separate site or page in your overall site, it will be easier for you to track the effectiveness of that promotional effort when you review the reports for your website that shows where people entered your site, etc. Hope that makes sense.

If you aren't going to be tracking the effectiveness of your promotional efforts, and you're mainly just concerned about your site being user friendly and easy to navigate for the user, then just send them to your main site. If it's built well, they will navigate it just fine to find what they are looking for.

I would split them up. Its good for Search Engine Optimization but make sure you include descriptive words in your url.

From Google....What you are trying to do is creating doorway pages for your website...

"If an SEO creates deceptive or misleading content on your behalf, such as doorway pages or "throwaway" domains, your site could be removed entirely from Google's index."

I would use my main domain name for different services..
    domain.com/buyers/
    domain.com/sellers/
You better focus on one website 100% instead of spliting your SEO afford to different domain names...

If you really want to use different domain names then you can create sub domains...
    buyers.domain.com sellers.domain.com etc.

I agree with TimuM on this. It is better to have one domain name and use sub-directories or sub-domains. I personally think that if your site's navigation is good there shouldn't be an issue finding things on your site.

I know some REALTORS who have twenty or so domain names pointing to one site, but again I think this is us falling victim to some outdated information in regards to SEO...IMO of course.

I used my main site. Just add another page. Google will still rank it, maybe even better then a new one. Plus google likes when new pages are added. A plus for your main page also.

It is better than a new domain name and sub domain name..

I use both methods, depending on situation and goal. If you are just wanting to rank better for niche terms in your market such as: Dallas Free CMA Market Analysis. you would do find just creating longtail such as yourwebsite/dallas_free_cma_analysis If you create individual url for each term you are targeting, it could get very expensive

We use different urls for web marketing mainly to track what marketing is effective. For example if we post 10 ads and mailers we know which ones are working because each one will have a different url. When we run ads that work we don't care as much.

We do the same thing for IVR where we'll have different ID#s for ads that we want to track.

For SEO it doesn't make sense, but works great for tracking ads.

    Default Yup

I would do that its called deep linking. Try to separate the URL content with "-" marks. Space it out and deep link.
