Harris Poll Is Not Kind To My Kind
It seems it has always been a problem for us as Realtors, our image that is. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) actually came into existence in 1906 touting as one of it

I couldn't agree with you more. I sometimes wonder what NAR's motives really are. I don't think they do a great job just ok.

Maybe it is just too easy to become a real estate agent. That's why you find somany incompetent Realtors out there, who tarnish the image of the profession. The Realtor standards are too low, and sometimes I wonder whether they are just more interested in the Membership fees.

"The public's perception is that REALTORs make too much money selling a home."
The general public always thinks that they pay too much for everything.
When was the last time you heard someone say "You know, I think that place ought to raise those prices cause it seems like they need more money?
Change the publics perception one client at a time and earn your keep.
Your clients will appreciate it and you will be happier.Sparks Real Estate Group llc

One thing is that a lot of people think both agents take home the whole commission like a paycheck. They don't see that we're lucky to get 20% of it, after the commission split, broker split, advertising, etc.
It's gotten to the point where I have a whole "script" for explaining how it works because so many people expect full service agents to cut "a percent or two" off the commission right to start with.
[I'm not quite that rude, but it is tempting to ask these people how they'd feel if I suggested taking 1/6 "off the top" of their listing price, so we'd share the same percentage loss].Raine Carraway - Realtor
