Default recruiting good real estate agents???

Hoping to get some good ideas [not sure if this is the best thread for this post].

My company has the business to support 3-5 good additional agents in our market, but I don't want to count on craigslist and referrals. Would love to hear some thoughts on recruiting.

    Thanks in advance!

    Default I disagree..

As long as you have unethical people in the world, there will be bad real estate agents.

I think any brokerage needs to ask the question "how do we recruit great people" as opposed to "how do we recruit people that produce".

There are a lot of ways of recruiting agents. Depending on how you approach it greatly affects the caliber of the agent you are trying to attract. I found to get top quality I rely strongly on referal of clients and other agents. What I mean by that is when I spend time networking I ask how people were treated in the past by their agents. If I get a glowing report I ask the person for the contact information of that agent and I explain to the person that I am tring to build the best team possible an am always looking for superstars to ad to my team. What that little sentence does is make the person that gave me the referal proud that they were able to help out and 9 out of 10 times they call that agent before I do. When I talk to the agent it goes pretty well. All I do is plant the seed that I am looking for the best of the best and am willing to go that extra little bit more for my team. My close rate on this stratagy is about 1-4 but the other three always keep in touch with me and I have expanded my network over the years to include a lot of really good people.

If your just looking for people to fill seats and you have the training program to make them superstars then yea use craigslist, host a mixer, I have even seen people recruite through home magazines and flyer services.

    good luck

There are tons of ways to attract better and ethical agents. Offer them a better commission, or a draw against commission. The best thing is to have an office that produces. Successfull people like to surround themselves with other successfull people.
