Default Does Direct Mail Marketing Work?

Does direct mail marketing still work…..absolutely! If done correctly direct mail is still probably the most effective way to market in any industry, especially the real estate industry. But you must do it correctly in order to maximize your ROI. I get probably 3-5 direct mail pieces at my home each month from real estate agents in my city. Each mail piece is nice, colorful, and glossy but I feel that the “call to action” which is the most important part of the marketing piece is missing the mark on pretty much all of them.

These are the typical “Calls To Action” that I usually receive:

    1. I recently sold a home in your neighborhood for X amount of dollars and for X percentage of the asking price. For more information visit my website at (their web address)

    2. For a Free Market Evaluation call or email me or visit my website at (their web address)

To me both of these are really lacking a true call to action. There is no real incentive to visit the website, and even worse if they do visit the website 95% of real estate websites I visit are like a “Black Hole” of links all over the place. Once the person gets there they have nowhere to go. If you are going to spend a lot of money on the direct mail campaign then drive the people to your website with a strong call to action and when they get to your website they should have only one option and that is to claim whatever it is you have offered in your call to action.

Here is an example that has worked very well:

The direct mail piece offers to pay the home owners $50.00 (or whatever denomination) in a gift certificate to the restaurant of their choice for allowing you to perform a Market Evaluation on their home. In order to claim their gift certificate they must go to your site and fill out their information. Now here is the most important part…when they get to your site that is the ONLY option they have is to fill out their info to claim the certificate.

Some you may be thinking this will cost me fortune paying out all these gift certificates. The truth is the majority of the people who will claim this will be legitimately qualified leads. They may not do something in the next 3-6 months, but by you collecting their information you can follow up with them at will, which will allow you to build a relationship with them. Most people will not go through the whole Market Evaluation process just for a $50 certificate, so again these will be qualified leads. I don’t know about you, but I would gladly pay $50 for a qualified lead!

Just my 2 cents on how to successfully utilize direct mail marketing in your business!

Default Does Direct Mail Marketing Work?

Direct marketing allows businesses to communicate straight to the customer, with advertising techniques such as mobile messaging , e-mail online display ads, promotional letters. When direct marketing you need to be selective of who you target or it can be deemed as spam if the customers does not need it.

    Cool

Direct mail marketing absolutely works. Postcards and yellow letters have worked well for me. You can target your market by neighborhood, zip codes, square footage, absentee owners, etc...There are list companies that provide this information to help you narrow your search. Direct mail marketing does cost a little bit of money, however if done properly, it can get you great prospects that will eventually get you some deals plus your money back and then some...

Supplement mail marketing with other marketing techniques so that when it fails you have another option to turn to.

How do you overcome the impression that this is spamming? In email, this likely goes to the trash bin. But direct mail has a chance as long as it gets opened.
