Networking online
What networks do you find are best for exposure? I think Facebook is doing a good job of opening it's self up to a business market. In real estate knowing a lot of people is important. Everybody has to buy or sell for one reason or another at some point. I know Linkedin is gaining ground, but are there any other sites of interest?

It depends on which area and business you are in. If you are looking for business community, then linkedin is better. If you are looking for young networks, then facebook is better.
I depends which group you would like to network with.

Yes you are right that facebook is a platform for youngsters and due to the fact that it is very friendly so promotion cannot be done here. But, Linked In at other end is very professional platform and helps you to get associated with professional people.
I mean it will be thus helpful and beneficial for you to set proper network for enhancing more business for better revenue.

Facebook is more effective for FMCG and Fashion products. Linkedin is useful for professional services like web design, property consulting etc...

Well, building networks through Facebook and Linked In will be great for everyone. Also, it will even let you know what is more you can do for your services to make it more productive in active market.

Online networking if done with different social networking sites can be more helpful and worth using due to the fact that it will be much better to approach different people around the internet and like this it will be beneficial working on it.

linked in
I was wondering how specifically people have used linked in to gain leads? Joining groups? Connecting with other realtors? Or other people you know? Following companies? Any guidance would be appreciated! Thanks!

Twitter, Hootsuite
These days Twitter is a global billboard, and Hootsuite is great for scheduling.
The hardest part about networking is consistency...showing up and participating. I recommend using a scheduling tool such as hootsuite.com that affords you the opportunity to schedule your posts.
Set up a separate email account that you use just for your social networking accounts, then if there is any activity at your social network accounts you will be notified. I always go in and like, share or comment. It is a system that keeps me on track.
Schedule seven tweets on Monday linking back to your website, thank anyone that 'follows' or mentions you.Lynn Albro
