Anyone out there with bright ideas for new marketing ideas
I am particularly looking for short term, low cost ideas?
Direct marketing or better yet a good way to market on the internet....
I am ready to hear all good ideas and I probably have some of my own to share.
Looking forward to hearing from anyone in the business who had success with something not too expensive!
Thanks

I've had great success with blogging (Activerain, Wordpress, Blogger, Trulia, BrokerAgentSocial, BiggerPockets, etc.) but it takes time to build a presence. Working with social media has also brought business as has a DRIP system that came with my IDX...the canned emails can be replaced with original content to have a more personal flair and/or target a specific topic.

Video
I don't care what part of the world you're in. You have to think out of the box. 99% of Realtors don't use Full-Motion Video but the ROI is off the hook for both career and the Seller. My Sellers make more money and therefore so do I.
Blogs are fine but you'll benefit with a short video each week on what your market is up to. Post the link to CL and send flyers out to 300 homes right in your neighborhood. On each flyer (1x a month delivery) point out the topics of your videos and direct the owners to your site and/or YouTube if you don't have a site.
- I just started setting up my website and have 3 video's on it from my personally explaining to the community how it is.
Now it doesn't have to be a full out production. Just so long as it isn't awful. Learn the craft now and you'll beat out even the top Realtors.
You can get a video camera for $100-$200 that's HD, editing software for $40 and then you just go for it and never think you're good. Just keep getting better at it. And... because this is DYI you have to be really good at Video or else just hire someone as you don't want a shaky unprofessional video.
If you have good idea's then why didn't you just share them upfront to start it off? Just sayin'.
Best,
John
P.S. here's another tip; don't have a http://Thumbtack account? Get one and set it up. Its free. Get yourself every place you can on the internet and keep an account of all the places you can help your Seller sell their home and how you are listed on every major site out there.Last edited by Chief Tutor; 05-10-2011 at 09:16 AM.

You make a good point John, and that's certainly the case in my area. I video all the subdivisions, towns, things of interest, etc. and post them as part of my blog (both on WP and Activerain). I get visibility via YT, my blog, and the other places I syndicate the video.

Press Releases
Well...there certainly is no such thing as a magic marketing pill; however, video (I've heard) is really good at getting attention the quickest. If the videos help enough people, then it will spread quickly.
A lot of people do article marketing, and that is okay.
However, hardly anyone writes press releases. They are sort of like articles, but they describe events--actions--that surround your company. Press releases can be submitted for free, and they tend to be syndicated to other submission sites.
Click HERE for an example of one.
Here are a couple of places where you can submit your press releases for free:
www.PRLog.org
www.OnlinePRNews.com
There are places you can go to pay to submit press releases. I think that www.EMailWire.com might be the best. I admit that I have not tried other paid press release services, though.Last edited by MyFirstMichiganHome; 05-18-2011 at 03:53 PM. Reason: had "though" too many times - too closely together

I find that it is true that most people can't be bothered reading about what they want to know these days. They want to be told. Most people are more likely to watch a video about what they want to know than read about it.

Blogging + video seems like a great idea for sure, specially building an online presence.
Does anyone have any examples of a real estate commercial video, more specifically trying to promote the city/place as a great investment opportunity, but with a more lifestyle approach to it?
Thanks in advance

I would suggest you to go for direct marketing + internet marketing. Blogging, video marketing, social media optimization, search engine marketing will give you the best ROI. It will take some time to get success but these techniques will really help you a lot.

How about email marketing
If you have a contact list, you can use chimpmail.com (FREE version) and set up a drip email campaign.
