It's not a bad idea, but I would be a bit discriminating on who I link to. Make sure their sites are worthy of a link. Good criteria for measuring their effectiveness as a marketing channel are finding out how popular their website is. You can use a traffic measurement site like Alexa for that. Having inbound links is great. Having links from popular websites is even better.

How to promote site?
When two websites exchange links to each other it is not as strong as one site giving the link and the other just receiving the link. Google looks for the authority on information so to say. Usually the authority doesn’t link back. Exchanging links is not a bad idea but if you can figure out a linking strategy with others so that everyone is receiving links but not giving back, that would be ideal.

Link exchange has been abused a lot and that's why search engines don't really value those types of links anymore.

I always prefer to have press release done so that, maximum people can visit and accordingly look for better services. I mean press releases are the most effective way of analyzing targeted traffic that are quite interested in online real estate services.

Press releases and the best in providing essential and related information about all the services that are beneficial. Also, one can even create different blogs and update it alternatively with different services so that, maximum people can gain some benefits.

Agreed, press releases are the way to go. Have had great success with PRWEB in the past. They syndicate their press releases to hundreds of different sites.

Another very effective way to promote your real estate site online is to write articles with 250-500 words in them. You want to also include one specific keyword in each article such as "Real Estate Sales". Once you write this article enriched with your company name and or atleast one precise keyword you will then submit this article to article submission directories, Always remember to include a Link from these articles pointing back to the site you are trying to promote .This can create traffic as well as ranking
