Newspaper Ads
I was thinking of buying some newspaper ads for one of my listings, but I know less and less people are reading the newspaper.
What do you think? If you already used that strategy, did it have a good return on investment or is it a waste of money?

Hello
So what would you recommend instead of newspaper ads?

For our area, we still have some newspapers offering free classifieds. This still sometimes brings in a new client - especially the older generation.
But for spending big money on this - no more.

There still is a target market for newspaper ads...especially if you are targetting a more seniored demographic. However, if you are trying to advertise a large, single-family house for example, then you are likely to find that a newspaper ad will bring no/very-little interest.

Newspaper ads can be very effective but it takes more that just running one listing. There is a real estate agent in my market who takes out a two page spread in the local paper every week and is the highest selling agent in my market. Of course doing that is a huge investment.

Best is to go for Business Listing in Google Places, Yahoo Map, Bing Map and Local Business Directories. Sooner or later your website starts getting local leads. More details on this thread: Local Business Listings - First Step of Local SEO...

Not practical
Spending on newspaper ads can be very costly. I would rather spend it on other platforms than print ads.
