can you clarify, where would the webmaster get the data to search? And if these are areas that you do not cover, what exactly are you gaining? Sure, I get it, possible referrals. But is that worth the expense of having feeds from different MLS's, to which you may possibly not have access without a membership.

    Cool

If you're referring to an IDX feed from an MLS, I'd say it's definitely worthwhile.

It'll keep prospects on your site longer, which is what you're going for.

And with the recent changes regarding MLS data feeds, there are a lot of companies out there that can provide the feed pretty cheaply.

A good one would be iHomeFinder. We use them on our real estate brokerage site.

When the quantity of information available on your site becomes so large that manual browsing imposes a burden on the user then I think it's time to consider come type of search function. Google offers a nice search tool that can be easily incorporated in to almost any site.
