Lightbulb What are you looking for from a real estate web site design?

    Looking for ideas.

I plan to be starting a sub-division of my web design & development company's site that is particularly aimed at real estate. I think supporting specific markets and offering laser focused solutions is a much better approach than simply saying I'll do any company that wants a web site. Being more specific means I can offer specific tools and services that a real estate agent or franchise wouldn't normally get or may not even hear about. I can even work longer hours on developing some shared resources that would far less expensive per company because it could be remodeled, re-skinned, and reused for other companies in the same industry.

So the question is really, what would YOU like to see. What do you wish every one of your listing sites or franchise site had? And what price range do you expect the cost to be in? I'm asking these questions because I believe in the customer shaping companies, not companies shaping the customer (manipulating people into believing they need whatever the company decides to offer). For this approach to work I need feedback so that I know what real estate agents actually want and need. I would appreciate any comments.

    About me:
My focus is on interactive media. I think this is a good fit for real estate companies because you need a little bit more than the standard info site to really stand out above the competition. Imagine, users being able to navigate through a home's photos the same way they would navigate the home in real life. That's why people do staging. It's all about imagining yourself in the home. And there's some things we can do virtually with the right tools. So that's why my company, PSIONIX Interactive Media, will be a good fit for people looking for a good web site.

i still believe in content is key, beside the normal mls search function on a site
i would like to see more sites which educate the client on buying a home from what the basic process is to current news about real estate in there area of specialty

i would also like to see semi educational pages about niche areas of real estate..such as foreclosures, short sales, investing,,, etc

i would like my site to show me as an expert in real estate, and as an expert in my area of real estate

heres my philospphy about real estate business

give the client something, teach the client something, than sell the client something

i would like my site to show those attributes

To build a web site you have three things to remember for your design, First is the idea of your clients,Second is the surfer wants and third is your idea without sacrificing the idea of your client. And the content of your site you must need to put your self as the administrator, and a surfer. Administrator because your client is the one who will manage this after you finished it and make sure that it is easy to manage and you satisfied your client wants and a surfer because a surfer is the client of your client that's why you must need to satisfied the needs of the surfer or what they are looking for.

Website design should be user-friendly, factual and informative. The viewer/client's interest should be catch with its design content. The colors should compliment to one another to avoid unnecessary errors in output of it whether on business or number of its visitors.

Thanks for wonderful tips about real estate web site design. I try to always face it so that they viewer's eye will be drawn to your content or headline. In your case, it would move the eye toward the red text to the right.

    Default Look at other companies

You could look at other companies out there that are targeting realtors with web design/marketing services. There are a million of them so you could just google "real estate web design" or something like that and find a bunch.

See what they're doing and maybe start with that and refine as you go.
