Build a Webpage
My company provides a very basic webpage for every Agent, blablabla ...
I am sure you know what's nex, I can't do this, I can't do that ... does anyone have a good contact for a decent product I can use instead, something easy to use, easy to maintain but good to look at? I am finding a bunch of over priced nonsense that comes with a bunch of bells and whistles I don't really need, I just want a decent webpage ... HHHHEEEEEELLLLLLLLLPPPPPP

It is better to find an agent and try to negotiate with him regarding your plan and about your budget before getting into the process. So first find the best agent and try to make use of is service.

If you can't do this work; no one can do this.

Martin, what are you looking to accomplish with a web site? Do you want to display your listigs? Are you looking to blog about your area? Are you looking to host a forum? There are many FREE platforms and web page providers out there, but you need to determine what you want your page to do for you.

gatgedcomusa ...
... all of the above, I currently have two blogs on seperate pages and would like to continue them on one webpage. At the same time I would like to use that page to promote myself, my services, enable people to look up the MLS, etc. a full blown business page. I have tried 1&1 for years but have found that they are very restrictive about what you can and what you cannot do, furthermore I don't like their templates. I have tried software and make it myself but learned the hard way, I am a real estate agent, not a web designer ...

Custom site?
It depends on how much you want to spend. Those cheaper, pre-built systems are much cheaper than a custom site, but they tend to be very restrictive.
When it comes to websites, the more freedom/options you want to have, the more expensive it is.
I'm of the opinion that a Realtor should invest in a custom site and have it thoroughly well-seo'ed. When you talk about real estate comissions, a lot of times just one or two deals will pay for a fully custom site with seo and all that.
The bottom line is that Real Estate is a highly competitive niche online and almost nobody is going to find your site unless you have it done the right way. That generally costs a good $3,000 - $5,000 or more.

I did find a decent provider that is reasonably priced, offers an IDX solution and is responsive: www.realtysoft.com make sure to mention my name if you sign up, I can use the free month :-) The name is Martin Schellenberg by the way ...

You are absolutely correct, a decent page is a must! It is only smart to shop around and make sure you get the best bang for your buck though. There are a bunch of companies out there that don't support what they promise in the long haul. Don't get stuck with someone that promises you the world and then doesn't deliver. You might be out of a couple of thousands (your investment) and really have no recourse. I personally think that having a solution you can edit yourself makes the most sense, that way its in your hands ... Please check it out and let me know what I am missing:
